About Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)
UTI’s can irritate your bladder, which can cause strong urges to urinate. 40% of women suffer UTI’s on a transient basis and this condition can cause incontinence.
While your urine is normally sterile, when infected with bacteria, your uterus can be exposed to bacteria by:
- Improper toilet practices exposing the urinary tract to bacteria like E. coli
- Sexual intercourse
Normal urination evacuates bacteria from the urethra.
However, bacteria can stay and grow causing a UTI. If the bacteria move up your urinary tract, the bacterial infection can spread up through the ureters to the bladder, causing a Bladder infection.
Simple Bladder or UTI’s can commonly be treated with medication.
If the infection continues to the kidney, it further can cause a more serious kidney infection. This must be treated promptly.
