History: A 45-year-old patient who is para three (all vaginal deliveries) was referred with heavy periods and anaemia requiring iron infusions and painful periods. The patient is known to have uterine fibroids which had been growing larger in size. An MRI of the pelvic showed a large posterior uterine fibroid measuring 8.5cm.
Procedure: Laparoscopic hysterectomy, removal of the fibroid and removal of both tubes.
Histology: Benign fibroids were confirmed.
Postop: All wounds have healed well. There was a slight sensation of heaviness in the lower part of the abdomen but no pain was reported.
