Large Ovarian Cyst

Large Ovarian Cyst

Background: 22-year-old nulliparous patient was referred with right-sided abdominal pain and an ultrasound showing a large ovarian cyst measuring up to 7cm. Her tumour markers were normal.

Procedure: A laparoscopic right ovarian cystectomy was performed (removal of the cyst). The ovary was preserved.

Histology: Histology of the cyst came back showing a benign cyst with features suggestive of endometriosis. Fluid from the cyst was benign.

Postoperative follow-up: The patient was seen at six weeks following her surgery. Laparoscopic wounds have healed with no concerns.
