Large Fibroid Uterus

Background: the 42-year-old patient who is Para 2 (2 caesarean sections) presented with heavy menstrual bleeding causing iron deficiency and anaemia which has required iron infusion. An ultrasound showed a 14cm uterus containing an 8cm fibroid.

Procedure: Laparoscopic subtotal hysterectomy and morcellation of the uterus and fibroid in Espinar bag.

Histology: Histology showed benign fibroid.

Recovery: The patient recovered well from the procedure. All laparoscopic wounds have healed.
