Laparoscopic Subtotal Hysterectomy for a Large Fibroid Uterus

Background: A 42-year-old lady was referred with heavy bleeding and period pains. An MRI showed extensive large uterine fibroids.

Procedure: Laparoscopic subtotal hysterectomy, debulking of the fibroid and removal of both fallopian tubes (uterus and the fibroids removed, the cervix was left). 

Histopathology: Histopathology of the specimen showed benign fibroids.

Recovery: All wounds healed and the patient recovered well with no significant concerns.
