Laparoscopic Hysterectomy for Abnormal Cervical Cells and Uterine Fibroids

Laparoscopic Hysterectomy for Abnormal Cervical Cells and Uterine Fibroids

Background: A 52-year-old lady who had a previous caesarean section was referred to Dr Gailani with irregular vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain and abnormal cervical cells (low-grade lesion).

A decision was made to proceed with a total laparoscopic hysterectomy.

Intraoperatively, a left ovarian cyst was identified and removed.

Histopathology of the cervix came back confirming low-grade lesion. The histopathology of the uterus showed benign fibroids. Histopathology of the left ovarian cyst showed a benign tumour (benign serous cystadenoma).

The patient has recovered well with no concerns.
