Abdominal Pain with Large Uterine Adenomyosis

Background: A 39-year-old lady who is para two (two vaginal deliveries) was referred with abdominal pain and an ultrasound showed an 8cm fundal fibroid. MRI showed prominent adenomyosis. Tumour marker (CA125) was elevated at 114.

Procedure: Total laparoscopic hysterectomy (removal of the uterus and the cervix), bilateral salpingectomy (removal of both tubes), debulking of the uterus, uterosacral ligament fixation and cystoscopy.

Histopathology: Confirmed adenomyosis of the uterus.

Postoperative Recovery: Patient recovered well with no significant concerns.
