Meet Dr Omar Gailani

Dr Omar Gailani is a Gynaecological surgeon at Capital Women’s Health and The Canberra Hospital. He also has a teaching position as a lecturer at the Australian National University. Dr Gailani is committed to delivering best practice in patient care.

Dr Omar Gailani runs the Pelvic Floor Medicine Clinic at Capital Women’s Health and Urodynamics and Oasis Clinics at The Canberra Hospital.

The Pelvic Floor Medicine Clinic offers investigations for a variety of pelvic floor conditions including urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. The tests include Urodynamic testing and outpatient Cystoscopy to investigate urinary symptoms including incontinence, pain and recurrent urinary infections. Manometry studies are also offered to investigate bowel symptoms after sustaining injury during child birth. Also offered is urgent PC treatment and outpatient Botox Bladder treatments for patients with severe overactive bladder symptoms who are not responsive to medications.

As a member of the International Continence Society (ICS), Dr Gailani holds a certificate in urodynamics from the Bristol Urological Institute. This certificate is recognised by the International Continence Society (ICS). Dr Gailani offers minimally invasive surgery for pelvic floor dysfunction. He has been both internationally and locally trained to improve patient outcomes in pelvic floor repair. He regularly operates at Calvary John James Hospital in Deakin, ACT and the Canberra Hospital in Garran, ACT.

The Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injuries (OASIS) Clinic, located at The Canberra Hospital, specialises in looking after women who have suffered injury during labour. Dr Gailani strives to continuously improve the resources available at the clinic and has completed the Endoanal and Pelvic Floor Ultrasound Masterclass in the United Kingdom. Dr Gailani also provides private obstetric care from his clinic in Deakin and delivers babies at Calvary John James Hospital. With access to the Fetal Medicine Unit at the Canberra Hospital, he also has access to Neonatal support services. He offers ultrasound scans at every antenatal visit and partners with Capital Region Midwives to offer pre and postnatal support, including educational home visits at no additional charge.
